i want to get into investment banking, and will be applying for universities this year, but i dont want to study the subject in uni. do i have to do a degree in something business related or can i do something like engineering or physics and still get into investment banking? if yes, which is better to do engineering or physics > if you’re planning to go into investment banking after anyway.

But before I decide whether to enroll in the CFA program, I would like to find out if this industry is really suitable for me.(I do not have any friends working there).

Is there anyone who is working in the investment industry who is willing to share with me his experiences and how the work there is like? Especially people who are in same situation as me (who made a career switch) ?

Also, I’m quite interested in research and analysis of stocks and equities, and I’m strong in numerical aptitude. What kinds of jobs are there available in the investment industry that will allow me to utilize this strength?

I’m looking for stocks that pay a dividend in excess of 15% (I’ve had them as high as 24%, so I know they exist). Of course, I want this dividend to be paid from profit, instead of the business taking out a loan for it.

I am NOT INTERESTED in buying a stock with the intention of selling it. My interest is income. I want to buy the stock, and be able to retire on the dividends… with enough shares, that is.

Got any ideas?

Do the fees get bundled into other “deductoins” so that I have to meet a threshold of expenses?
